Cancellation and Refund Policies
Our policies are designed to be fair to both the traveler and the local logistics operation.
More than 24 hours
95% refund or free rescheduling. 5% retained for processing fees.
Less than 24 hours
No refund. Considered a No-Show as spots have been blocked.
1. Cancellation by the Client (24h Rule)
95% Refund: If you cancel MORE than 24 hours before the tour starts, 95% of the amount paid will be refunded. The remaining 5% covers payment processing costs (Transbank/MercadoPago commissions + VAT). No Refund: If you cancel LESS than 24 hours before or do not show up (No-Show), as spots and logistics have already been paid for.
2. Cancellation due to Force Majeure (Weather/Authority)
If Northern Chile must cancel due to adverse weather (wind >25 knots, total cloud cover in astronomy) or park closures, the client is entitled to: a) Reschedule at no cost (recommended option), or b) 95% refund of the money paid. The 5% retention applies in all cases to cover payment commissions already charged.
3. Processing Fee Retention
A 5% retention applies to all refunds to cover non-recoverable commissions charged by payment processors (Transbank, MercadoPago) including VAT. This retention applies regardless of the cancellation reason, as commissions were charged at the time of the original payment.
4. Refund Timeframes
Approved refunds are processed internally within 24 business hours. Depending on your bank or payment method (Webpay/Mercado Pago), the money may take between 5 to 10 business days to reflect in your account.
